The secretary’s diary

Hi again! Told you I won’t be away for too long…. trying to make up for lost times. Today, I have taken inspiration from the silver screen glamour of the 50’s and  60’s … paying homage to all the decades of secretary chic fashion which came from way back in the days. Remember the likes of Katharine Hepburn and Marilyn Munroe? These chicks killed the secretary look time and again in every movie they were in. They were the ones that revealed to us the beauty of pussy-bow  blouses, polka dot shirts, tight pencil skirts, brightly coloured chiffon and silk scarfs. Talk about the ultimate uptown girl look, these actresses absolutely rocked it!

Well fast-forward to present times, it’s spring in year 2015, the chill in the weather is gradually easing off and with all the layering and covering up in winter, a girl needs to start bearing a bit of skin for a little fresh air…or no? Anyway I have worn my white shirt with the contemporary ‘skort'(Skirt-shorts). I don’t know if they have existed as long as the pencil skirts but they are everywhere so I guess I’m trying to keep things current.

If you know me well, you’d know you’d hardly catch me without a coat or jacket to drape on my shoulders, partly because I hate my arms and mostly because its a chic thing to do. My Black pussy bow was a chiffon belt I detached from an old dress… got rid of the dress but kept the belt which has become useful once again but in a different light, ha!

I do hope you are all having an amazing week so far. I’ll let you get on with the visuals… I’ll catch up with you in a bit, don’t go away and thanks for stopping by, means everything…. X

  • I’m totally loving this look, you can’t go wrong with monochrome. The pussy bow belt is so chic and I love your pairing with the skort. Great coat which gives a nice finishing touch.

      Hi Oreva,

Thank you for visiting… means a lot. Yea sure I can help, matter of fact most of my looks can easily be reworked to fit any size or body type per say. As you can see I’m not particularly slim myself lol. I tend to cover up a lot with coats or blazers cos it makes me feel comfortable and look great. Basically, The idea is to rework any look whatsoever to fit your physique.

Let me know if you want any more tips, and I hope I continue to inspire you as time goes on. Thanks again. X
