5 reasons to love Vintage/thrift Shopping

Hi Guys! Today I want to tell you more about why I find Vintage or thrift shopping so refreshing and ultimately more fulfilling than it’s High street counter part. First of all, how amazing is this richly coloured kimono I’m adorning today? These are the rare kind of beauties you find when you ditch the all too fast high street Fashion and seek your treasures where your inner mind feels free to express itself through randomness. I’ll give you 5 good reasons why Vintage shopping and equally thrift shopping is the ultimate shopping experience for me

  1. I find Unique Pieces

Whenever I go to these places it always feels like I’m going treasure hunting. They are not restricted by season or trend. You find just about everything from chic 60’s to 90’s grunge to original classics, it’s endless. Every piece is so original it is extremely rare that you walk on the street and find someone else in exactly what you are wearing. Instead you get looks of ‘where did she get that’ rather than ‘I have that too’. So whilst everyone can be boxed and forced to look a certain way you on the other hand exudes individuality that inspires. Nothing allows you to develop your own unique style better than unique pieces.

2.  Excellent return on Investment

Of course that it is why it has stood the test of time and still remains standing available to be shopped off the rack after all these years. A beautiful vintage find ‘and I kid you not’ would last you forever, probably even outlive you. My Vintage pieces are probably the best quality items I have in my wardrobe right now. I also find vintage pieces when thrift shopping sometimes. You just know by the feel and uniqueness of the fabric and design that you have found a gem.

3.  We all love a good bargain

I have to admit that vintage shops sometimes can be quite pricey even though you get your money’s worth but hey I’m not spending all my life savings just so I can look unique. Thrift shopping can give you almost the same experience without digging a 6 feet deep hole in you bank account. I have a bespoke vintage oversized biker jacket hanging in my wardrobe I got for just £5 thrift shopping. It’s things like this thats makes me want to come back evreytime and have a little nosey

4.  Vintage Pieces tell a story

This point might be tricky for some of you I will admit because some people do not like the idea of buying clothes that may have been pre-owned. It’s ok to be this way but I still think you are missing out on a lot. There is always something intriguing about a vintage piece that almost makes me wonder what the history behind what Im wearing is and how did it ended up coming to me? It is quite deep and soul searching.e. Many of these items have probably been handed down from generations. It’s nice not to think of some of  your clothes as just another disposable piece but something that once

5.   The Recycling Queen

It’s nice to be kind and being kind to the earth is a responsibility I’d love to take seriously. In this time of mass production potentially resulting in  plenty waste I think every little helps. Everyone is trend crazy so it means we are in a hurry to ditch and acquire more only to be ditched again in no time. Shopping pieces that I can easily come back to again and again regardless of trend makes me feel responsible I guess

So there it is guys! Tell me if you love vintage or ultimately prefer the high street shopping experience more.

Love, Ada. X
